BLOG POSTS

My blog posts are very popular. They are brief but in-depth art history essays about some of my favorite artists, and some of my favorite facts about art.

For example in the essay about snow, we learn that in early days of photography in mountains, sherpas had to carry large glass plates and a portable darkroom up and down the mountains.

You can search for an artist or term in the search bar. For example. “John Singer Sargent,” or “fruit crate art.”

E-LETTER

Once or twice a month I send out a newsletter with a blog post and updates. I invite you to subscribe to my newsletter to get earliest access to the blog posts, as well as:

Recent topics have ranged from whether Michelangelo used an eraser, to whether J. M. W. Turner used bread as a painting tool. (And surprisingly — both topics are related!)

I've written about inviting children to discuss art (always a good idea), and about painting clouds "from both sides now."

My emailed newsletter is:
  • Access to special content
  • Product updates
  • Special Zoom lectures only for newsletter subscribers (limited availability)
  • And other offers

It’s emailed only once or twice a month, so I promise you won’t get bombarded.

In one E-letter I discussed why wet rocks are prettier than dry rocks — a subscriber replied saying:

You are the only person I know who would have the curiosity to wax eloquently about wet rocks! I loved it!

My next E-letter is due out soon. Don't miss out!
