Notes From The Artist...

My sister called to me to come out and see the "strawberry moon," June 24th, 2021. It was noteworthy because it marked the last supermoon of the year and was expected to appear very large in the night sky. I immediately got up, grabbed my phone-as-a-camera and went outside. In that matter of minutes the sky had changed from seeing the massive full moon, to only seeing the light from the moon eking out from under the clouds. It illuminated the lake creating a dramatic, almost heavenly scene in the sky. It was magnificent. Even though it was not the photo I expected.

The fact that this represents an atypical moonlit night, is very satisfying to me. The white of the moonlight, and the sparkle on the water, is the white of the paper. (There is no white paint used.)

More About
Jane M. Mason

As a small child, I started taking art classes at Joslyn Museum in Omaha. Every Saturday morning I was at the museum for a class. As a five-year-old, I won my first art contest and distinctly remember the drawing I had created being used on the cover of the spring catalog for Joslyn Museum. My childlike enthusiasm for art and happiness creating art is in my DNA now. It’s part of every piece of art I create.
